Fire Risk Assessment

Why is a Fire Risk Assessment needed?
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 came into effect in October 2006 and affects all non-domestic premises in England and Wales.

The new Fire Safety Order means that a fire risk assessment must be carried out on your premises by a competent, trained person to ensure that suitable fire precautions, maintenance and management measures are in place to ensure the safety of anyone who uses your premises.  Premises may be subject to inspection from the Fire and Rescue Service who will prosecute in cases of non-compliance.

The  Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order will:

  1. Place emphasis on preventing fires and reducing risk including conducting fire risk assessments and providing relevant training
  2. Eliminate the need for fire certificates
  3. Make it your responsibility to ensure the safety of everyone who uses your premises

Persons and premises affected by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order include:

  1. Persons responsible for business premises
  2. Employers
  3. Self-employed persons with business premises
  4. Charities and voluntary organisations

What is included?
As part of the fire risk assessment our Training Officer will visit your site and complete an assessment to determine fire safety and associated risks.

An initial onsite visit with a designated staff member will identify your working practices and overall layout of your site.  An individual risk assessment will identify the fire hazards, identify the people at risk and consider whether existing safety provisions are adequate.  You will then be provided with a copy of the fire risk assessment including a report of what corrective and preventative action is needed as well a remedial action plan including photographic evidence where required.

Cost:
The cost of the Fire Risk Assessment is dependent upon the size and nature of your premises and business operations.  We will agree an approximate length of time on site prior to the risk assessment being undertaken and should additional time be necessary this will be agreed.  The cost of completing the Fire Risk Assessment is determined by the time spent on site and includes all subsequent reports and action plans.  Please contact us on 0161 688 5050s for you free quotation.
